This month Whispmart mixes it up and launches our first How To Video featuring Film Festival Strategist Kathleen McInnis.
Whipsmart's Executive Director Amy Lillard talks to McInnis about how she helps creative entrepreneurs craft their pitch so that they can find their niche in the marketplace in authentic and meaningful ways.
Keys to crafting a great pitch:
Get perspective. Take the 50,000 foot view of your project.
Identify what’s universal. Give your audience a way to relate without any prior knowledge of your project.
Find the right words. Translate your creative idea into concise language that is engaging and allows the audience to see value in it.
Know YOUR audience. It’s not only about understanding who is in the room but finding the right match. Not every project is right for every audience.
Make the Ask. Identify exactly what you want from your audience and then ask.
Be prepared. Have a couple other ideas in your back pocket. And practice, practice, practice.
A final thought:
A tremendous amount of work goes goes into your creative project before you even get to the pitch (and that’s an important part of the journey), but what will capture your audience is your authenticity and unique perspective.
